Terms of use

Plain-language terms for a pilot service that is still under development.

What this is

This is a small, independent teaching pilot run within a university department, intended for formative study support. It is not an official Uppsala University service and is not affiliated with, approved or endorsed by Uppsala University or any other institution. It helps a student practise by answering questions about course material a teacher has chosen. It is not an examination system, not a grading system, and not a source of authoritative academic, assessment or administrative advice.

Students

Students use the service without an account and without identifying themselves. Answers, conversation transcripts and the tutor's internal picture of what a student knows exist only for the duration of the session and are not stored on our side, so a teacher cannot see a student's answers, results or learning profile. Only anonymous counts of how often an activity is used are recorded.

Teachers

Teachers sign in with a named account and are responsible for the material they attach and for the activities they publish. Stored course material is private to the teacher account that created it; students are tutored from it but are not given the files, and the service administrator sees only the operational details needed to run and support the pilot, not an ordinary way of reading the stored course text.

This is an AI system

You are interacting with an artificial-intelligence system. Every question, assessment, explanation and piece of feedback is generated by an AI model rather than written or checked by a person beforehand. They can be incomplete, unclear or simply wrong, even when they read convincingly. Course material provided by a teacher can also contain mistakes. Nothing the tutor says should be treated as a grade, a result, or a statement of what will be examined.

Responsibility

Teachers and institutions remain responsible for their courses, their teaching material and all assessment decisions. Students remain responsible for their own study choices. Please check anything important against your course material and your teacher.

Material you upload

Uploaded course material is processed to provide the tutoring, and under the service configuration used for this pilot it is not intended or used to train the service providers' AI models. If you attach material, you confirm you are entitled to use it for this teaching purpose, that doing so does not infringe anyone's rights, and that it does not contain confidential information, sensitive personal data, student work or other content that should not be processed through this service.

Deleting your material

A teacher can permanently delete their own activities and the text stored from their material, or delete a whole course together with every activity and material under it. Deletion through the teacher portal is permanent and cannot be undone.

Acceptable use

Do not use the service to harass anyone, to upload unlawful or harmful content, to attempt to gain access to other accounts or data, or to place automated or excessive load on it. Access may be suspended if it is used this way.

Availability and pilot status

This is a pilot. Features, behaviour and stored data may change, and the service may be unavailable, interrupted or discontinued at times. It is provided as it is, without a promise that it will be error-free or suited to any particular purpose, and we cannot guarantee uninterrupted access or that content will be preserved. It is offered on this basis for use in a small departmental teaching pilot; formal review, and compliance with the requirements of the university and department where it is used, are needed before any broader institutional, public or commercial deployment. Nothing here limits rights or liability that cannot legally be limited under applicable law.

Independence

This service is independent and not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of any university, learning-platform vendor or other institution.

Questions and feedback

Students and teachers are equally welcome to send questions or feedback through the contact & feedback page. What you send is stored so it can be read and answered manually; there is no automated email reply.
